Jackie Baras MSN, MBA, RN is the Director of Surgical Quality, Clinical & LGBT Programs at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH). In this capacity, Baras provides governance and oversight ensuring that LGBTQIA employees and patients are able to successfully navigate the full spectrum of resources available addressing their medical needs.
A trailblazer and leader of the LGBTQIA community, Jackie Baras has transformed the tapestry of the LGBTQIA healthcare disparities through education, community collaboration, and volunteerism. As a Transpinay, she brings her rich personal experience and a unique intersectional lens to health care. Baras was instrumental in launching the first LGBT Business Resource Group called PROUD (Promoting Respect, Outreach, Understanding, and Dignity) at RWJUH. She worked closely with hospital leadership to establish the PROUD Family Health Center at RWJUH Somerset- the first hospital based LGBT clinic in the New Jersey and was part of the team that created PROUD Transitions – a Transgender Family Support Group, also one of its kind in the state. Additionally, Baras also serves as Quality Nurse Manager for PeriOperative Services, Lead Group Facilitator for PROUDLY ME Education/Support Group, and as Group Facilitator for PROUD Community Advisory Council.
