Contribute to your time to help with relief efforts on the ground in a crowdsourced, humanitarian mapping project. We will provide geospatial data to OpenStreetMap to aid the emergency response to wildfires that have broken out in the pine tree-dense mountains in South Lebanon, threatening forests and residential areas in southern Lebanese towns. There is a lack of up-to-date and detailed maps in this area. Mapping will involve remote tracing of buildings where the fires have spread.
No mapping experience or knowledge of local terrain is necessary. Training will be provided. Come at any time during the afternoon. Please bring a laptop. RSVP to Francesca Giannetti at fg162 [AT] rutgers.edu.
